Thomas Schlegel is leader of the VirtuE "Interaction and Software Engineering". He is also head of VIMation and leader of the cluster "Production Organisation and Management" (POM) in the European Network of Excellence I*PROMS, representing the Universitaet Stuttgart in these two international networks of research. Being the management and technical co-ordinator of the new European IWARD project and scientific co-coordinator of the European INT-MANUS project, European Research in IST/ICT and NMP is the
focus of his work.

He was a senior researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), having expert knowledge in diverse fields of research covering areas like Software Engineering in which he received his Dr. degree from the University of Stuttgart, Semantic Models, Model-driven Engineering, Production IT, Human Computer Interaction, Web-Services, IT-based Services, Service Engineering and Usability Engineering. Lectures and thesis supervision at different Universities as well as many scientific publications in the above fields complete his academic profile.


Thomas Schlegel has broad industrial experience in Software Engineering from his work at different IT and industry companies including HP, Agilent Technologies, Daimler-Chrysler and SMEs in the IT field and has been working in various research, technical and consulting projects funded by industry, national and EU sponsors.
